Every year on August 12, the world comes together to recognize the potential of young people on International Youth Day. It’s a moment to celebrate not just their dreams—but also their power to reshape the world. At CAMI International, we believe there’s one force that empowers children more deeply than any other: Art.

Whether it’s a crayon sketch, a digital illustration, or a mural in a public space—art is every child’s superpower. It nurtures confidence, sparks imagination, and gives even the quietest voices a platform to be heard.
1. Art Gives Children a Voice
Children often struggle to put big feelings into words. But through art, they speak in color, form, and emotion. From a child in war-torn Ukraine painting scenes of hope, to students in Brazil illustrating their environmental dreams, children use creativity to say what matters to them. In a way, art becomes their first language of activism.
2. Art Strengthens Mental Health and Resilience
The world can be overwhelming—especially for young people. Art allows them to process emotions, reduce stress, and build emotional strength. In refugee camps, crisis zones, and underserved schools, creative expression has become a healing tool. Programs using art therapy are now being recognized globally for their impact on youth mental health.
3. Art Builds Empathy and Global Connection
When kids view or create art from other cultures, they learn empathy. When they exhibit their work, they learn courage. Art helps children feel connected—to others, to stories, and to the idea that they can make a difference.
4. Art Encourages Leadership and Innovation
Creativity is more than imagination—it's problem-solving. Young artists are now at the forefront of campaigns for sustainability, gender equality, and digital safety. Like youth innovator Gitanjali Rao, who combines science and creativity, children around the world are proving that innovation often starts on a sketchpad.
5. Art Prepares Children for the Future
According to the World Economic Forum, creativity is one of the top skills needed for future careers. Through drawing, sculpting, coding, and storytelling, children gain critical thinking and collaboration skills—foundations for tomorrow’s leaders.
At CAMI International, We Believe in Art as Power
At the Children’s Art Museum International, we create global spaces where children from every background can explore their creativity, share their stories, and connect with the world. Because when children create, they don’t just make art—they create change.
